One week has passed since Mzia Amaghlobeli began her hunger strike. Today, her letter was released, which we present unchanged:
“The fact for which I am accused today is the result of repressive, treasonous, violent processes directed against human speech and expression, processes that have been developing for the past year and are taking root in our daily lives as dictatorship.
I do not intend to accept the regime’s agenda. I am on hunger strike.
Freedom is more valuable than life.
Any citizen who wants to live in a democratic, fair, European Georgia free from Russian influences could find themselves in my situation.
Fight before it’s too late.
Fight wherever you are,
Whether in the country or abroad.
In villages or cities, in streets or auditoriums,
In public and work spaces.
Be brave, take care of and strengthen each other.
Do not allow Georgia to be isolated from the civilized world.”
