On January 25th, on the 59th day of public protest, Georgian musicians will hold a concert at the Hippodrome to protest the capture of public spaces – the capture of the Hippodrome, Public Broadcaster, courts, and continue to express solidarity with illegally imprisoned and tortured citizens and journalists.
Hippodrome, which includes dozens of hectares of forest and free landscape in the heart of Tbilisi, has been a place of public gatherings since the 12th century, representing a traditional place for people to gather, play sports, socialize, and spend time in the nature. However, through non-transparent process, aggressive construction is planned on the territory of the Hippodrome, which will destroy the last free space for citizens in Tbilisi and will significantly damage the ecology of Vake-Saburtalo and increase the traffic on this territory.
The protest concert will be held from 16:00 to 23:00, followed by a protest march towards Rustaveli Avenue at 23:00.
The protest concert Musical Accents – Capture is organized by the Trade Union of Musicians in Georgia, civil movement “Hippodrome – Concrete-Free Space”- as part of “Musical Accents”, and the media partner of the concert is Maisi.News-Georgia.
