The employees of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth Affairs of Georgia and its system are publishing a statement indicating that the November 28 statement by “Georgian Dream” regarding the suspension of European integration contradicts Article 78 of the Constitution of Georgia.
As of December 4, the statement has been signed by 1100 employees. The statement remains open for signatures.
We present unchanged:
“We, the employees of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth Affairs and its system, as public servants, have been serving the national interest of independent Georgia for years. For us, this means building a European education system that will create equal opportunities for every person, make Georgian youth and scientists competitive, give them the opportunity to join a high-standard scientific-educational space, and ensure the building and strengthening of Georgia as a democratic, legal and social state.
We believe that yesterday’s statement about removing EU membership negotiations from the agenda until 2028 does not correspond to the country’s strategic interests and contradicts Article 78 of the Constitution of Georgia.
Accordingly, within the freedom of expression guaranteed by the Constitution of Georgia, we declare that we remain loyal to Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration course.”
