Civil initiative groups “To Save Shukruti Village” and “Voters” are planning a solidarity rally for Shukruti village on Thursday, October 17, at 20:00 in front of the Parliament building.
According to the organizers, several individuals have been on a hunger strike for more than 40 days, with five of them having their mouths sewn shut. As stated in the announcement published on social media, the residents of Shukruti have been in a continuous state of protest for over 212 days, demanding fair compensation from the company “Georgian Manganese” for damages inflicted upon them.
“We are expecting all individuals who consider it important that human rights be protected in our country,” the statement reads.
